- Participants are not allowed to sell the house for 10 years but you are allowed to upgrade by purchasing a new house at a higher value.

Can MM2H participants work in Malaysia? Are they eligible for a working permit?
Generally, MM2H participants are not permitted to work or obtain a working permit in Malaysia under the MM2H program.
However, Platinum tier holders are permitted to work or invest in Malaysia without having to apply for a separate work permit. If you’re interested in doing business, you may register a company in Malaysia and participate as a shareholder or investor.
Can MM2H participants purchase commercial property in Malaysia, such as shop lots, for rental purposes?
No. Under MM2H, participants are allowed to purchase only residential properties.
To buy commercial property (e.g. shop lots, office units) or conduct rental activities, you must incorporate a local company.
Are MM2H participants taxed on foreign income remitted to Malaysia?
No. Income brought into Malaysia from overseas (such as pensions, investments, or business income abroad) is not subject to Malaysian income tax.
