11 Aug Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) to resume in October 2021
The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme that was suspended over a year ago will be resumed in October 2021 as announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) on the 11 August 2021 as part of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) to kickstart the economy.
New applications will be handled by the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) and there are several enhancement of the programme such as the ceiling of MM2H applicants are not more than 1% of population of Malaysian Citizen and application is only for qualified participants without criminal record.
There are also revised application criteria that was announced such as:
- Having an offshore income of at least RM40,000 a month as compared with RM10,000 before this
 - Fixed deposit are now RM 1 million for all categories compared to RM 300,000 (below 50 years old) and RM 150,000 (50 years and above)
 - Up to 50% of the Fixed Deposit can be withdrew for the purposes of property purchase, medical expenses and children education
 - New age categories are 39 – 45 years old with another at 50 years old and above
 - Approval period is now 5 years + 5 years instead of previous 10 years straight
 - The minimum duration of stay of at least 90 days (cumulative) in a year, for the next 5 years, e.g. 5 x 90 = 450 days for the next MM2H pass extension
 - Proof of liquid assets has been set to RM 1.5 million as compared to RM 500,000 (below 50 years old) and RM 350,000 (50 years old and above) previously
 - Processing fees of RM 5,000 for main applicant and RM 2,500 per dependent (Previous rate for Main applicant and spouse = RM 300, processing fees @ RM 2,088; Dependent Application fees = RM 300, Processing fees @ RM 1,850)
 - Visa fees are now at RM 500 per year compared to previously at RM 90 /year
 - Renewal, Changing of Principal, change of citizenship for main applicant & dependent(s) are all subject to police vetting
 - Letter of Good Conduct (LOGC) is required to be presented for the main applicant and all dependents
